Wabera ward MCA aspirant Isaac Njeru popularly known as Karemba has promised to support needy learners through fair awarding of bursaries and push for land titling and empowerment programs for youth, women and persons with special needs if elected in August 9 elections.
He said a lot of needy learners in the ward had dropped out of school after failing to get assistance from incumbent MCA Abdi Duba and was committed to addressing the issue should he assume office.
“Bursary awarding has been marred by irregularities and I am committed to ensure the process is fair and transparent to ensure all needy learners benefit,” Mr Njeru said during an interview with The Press Point.
The politician said lack of land documents in the region continued to hinder development of commercial and residential plots due to numerous legal battles that have left the plots idle.
Some of the victims have developed health complications and others sunk into depression due to court cases and inability to afford lawyers like those claiming ownership of their properties.
“This has been a thorn in the flesh of Wabera and Isiolo residents at large. I am committed to prioritizing on ensuring titles are issued in areas with no disputes and pending disputes are resolved to pave way for titling,” he said.
On why he feels he is the most suitable for the seat, Mr Karemba said he had served the community in different capacities and championed for the rights of the residents.
“Wabera people know that it’s in Karemba’s hands that they are safe. I am known for sticking to and keeping my promise,” he noted.
The 42-year old said if elected, he will fairly serve the electorates regardless of their tribe and religion and that his leadership will be for all.
“My bid is community driven and for all regardless of what they subscribe to. Development and empowerment will be for all,” he said.
Mr Karemba is the Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate in the ward.
He is perceived a frontrunner in the race to unseat incumbent Abdi Duba, which has attracted over 10 aspirants, alongside former MCA Salesio Kiambi.
In UDA’s spirit of bottom-up economic model, the aspirant said he will focus on enhanced livelihoods for the common Mwananchi.
A mason, he says, will conduct door to door campaigns to sell out his agenda and maximize his votes.
