A middle-aged man died last night in Matakiri location, Tharaka South Sub County, Tharaka Nithi County after a Christmas Day drinking spree.

Mr Murimi Mucee was confirmed dead at Marimanti Sub County Hospital at around midnight on Saturday where he was rushed by his family members after becoming unconscious.

Matakiri location Chief Emanuel Kibunjia said Mucee was vomiting and complained of a stomachache.

He said the late had spent the Christmas Day taking Mugacha and Nguco with his seasoned drinking buddy, Nkumba Muricha among other friends.

“The man was pronounced dead on arrival at Marimanti Sub County Hospital where he was rushed by his family members,” said Mr Kibunjia.

The chief said the body was moved to the hospital’s mortuary awaiting postmortem.

He stated that initial investigations indicated that none of the Mucee’s drinking buddies had yet complained of any problem.

“We cannot conclude that the death was caused by the liquor because nobody else has complained of any problem,” he said.

The deceased brothers; Mr Mathew Njagi, Sebastian Kinyua and Alex Belio said the wife of their late brother, Ms Leah Karoki informed them of the sickness and when they rushed there they found him already unconscious.
