Kirinyaga County government has rolled out distribution of Sh125 million bursaries for more than 42, 000 needy Secondary and College students from across the 20 wards.

Of the beneficiaries, 32, 397 are Secondary School students while 4742 and 5388 are tertiary and university students respectively.

The bursaries, Governor Anne Waiguru said, were meant to ensure students stay in school and are able to achieve their dreams.

The funds will ease the burden of school fees on parents, majority who are grappling with the harsh economic effects of Covid-19.

“We will continue supporting education for the needy learners to assist them achieve the highest level of education,” she said while launching the disbursement at Ngurubani town.
