#TOWN’S TALK
Two groups of commercial sex workers operating in Nanyuki town are at loggerheads over unfair competition.
The groups include one that allegedly recently relocated to Nanyuki town from Isiolo and another that has been operating in the town.
The Nanyuki team is accusing the other faction of invading into their ‘business areas’ denying them a chance to earn a living and subjecting them to a lot of suffering.
They said it was becoming impossible to provide for their families due to reducing number of customers coupled with the biting effects of Covid-19 pandemic.
Ms Annet (not her real name) says the team from Isiolo had adversely affected their daily income as majority of clients preferred them to the Nanyuki team.
“The (Isiolo faction) has made us lose many clients since they came in this town. Majority of our clients prefer them and are now even operating from our designated areas forcing us go home in the morning with nothing,” she told the Press Point.
The group has threatened to hold protests against the invasion of their “Job areas” in bid to ensure restoration of fair competition.
