As Deputy President Dr William Ruto is expected to visit Isiolo tomorrow (Sunday) Governor Mohammed Kuti has rubbished claims that some leaders had plans to mobilize youths to disrupt the DP’s meeting.
Speaking while flagging off relief food to be distributed to over 15, 000 vulnerable households in Isiolo town, Dr Kuti said the county was open to visitors but maintained that every leader visiting must observe decorum and respect to their political opponents.
“There is no plan to disrupting anyone’s meeting but those coming should peace and decorum at their meetings,” Dr Kuti said in reference to the DP.
He maintained that everyone had the right to sell their political agenda in the county but must do so in a peaceful and tolerant way.
“Isiolo is a peaceful county and everyone selling their agenda should do so in a peaceful manner,” he said.
Dr Ruto was in February this year heckled by a group of youths, reportedly paid by one of the local politicians, in Isiolo town after attending a fundraiser for 70 churches in Ngaremara ward.
Dr Ruto visit comes at a time when youths allied to him under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) are divided.
Sources revealed to The Press Point that a splinter group was disgruntled for being sidelining by some of the leaders spearheading the DP’s campaigns in the region.
“We had agreed to work together as a team in popularizing DP’s agenda but some of us have been sidelined,” one of the disgruntled youths said.
