Police in Nkubu, Meru County are holding a tea-picker suspected to have killed his three-year-old daughter and injured his wife following a domestic quarrel.

The 25-year-old Boniface Murithi is said to have hit the girl Princess Kawira on the head as she crawled towards the injured mother Mary Nchabira killing her on the spot.

The man had before killing the daughter slashed his wife’s arm using a machete and also hit her on the stomach severely injuring her. The victim is receiving treatment at a hospital in Nkubu.

Mr Murithi, who immediately went into hiding, was arrested in Nkubu town as he planned to board a Maua-bound vehicle.

When the ongoing probe is completed, the suspect will be charged with among others assault, grievous harm, and murder.

Neighbours who spoke to thepresspoint.com said the man and his wife often picked up arguments and fought but would later iron out their differences.
