Civil servants who are yet to take Covid-19 jab have until August 23, 2021 to get vaccinated or face legal action, the state has warned.
Reports indicate that majority of them have been reluctant in taking the jab in a bid to avoid working from their offices, therefore, straining the few who are allowed to work from the office after taking the jabs.
Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua maintained that the state had issued a two-week notice for every civil servant to go for their first jabs failure to which disciplinary action will be taken against them.
Mr Kinyua lamented low uptake amongst the group and instructed principal secretaries and accounting officers to ensure the directive is fully implemented.
Only two percent of Kenyans have so far taken the two recommended doses, the biggest percentage made up of health care workers and those aged 58 and above who have fully complied with the vaccination procedure.
The Ministry of Health targets to have vaccinated at least 26 million people by the close of the year.
