Miriam Koome (not her real name) from Sacred Heart area in Isiolo had just left her home for the shop when she found some of her household items missing.
Among the stolen items were some electronic gadgets, household items and her son’s bicycle that was parked outside her house on the outskirts of Isiolo town.
Days later, the villagers established that the burglary was being done by a group of young boys from the vicinity after one of them was caught riding Ms Koome’s son’s bicycle forcing him to flee and leave it behind.
The Press Point understands that the boys, both in primary and secondary schools, spy residential homes within Sacred Heart, Mater Hospital area and neighbouring areas before trespassing and stealing.
They first pelt towns into the homestead for a number of occasions just to be sure no one is around so that they are not caught.
In the event, no one responds, they quickly enter into the compound and ransack the house for light and quickly sellable items that they can dispose off locally without raising eyebrows.
The younger ones sneak through the window in the event the house is closed.
The boys, residents say, have robbed them of several items and their several appeals to police have not been responded to.
“We have reported to police and nothing has been done. Why can’t they arrest their parents and some of the boys are well known?” one of the residents posed.
The group could slowly grow into a dangerous gang if no immediate interventions are made.
