Lugari residents in Kakamega County are mourning the death of a woman who reportedly locked herself and her two children aged one and four years old before setting the house on fire.
Reports indicate that the 35-year-old Hellen Vuyanzi had engaged in a confrontation with her husband accusing him of infidelity before the incident.
Police reports revealed that efforts by the villages to rescue the woman and her children from the burning house were futile as she had locked the house from inside.
The woman’s 10-year-old son however, successfully managed to escape before the house caught fire.
Lugari Sub-County police boss Bernard Ngungu said investigations had been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
