Grief engulfed a village in Trans Nzoia after a 29-year-old woman reportedly murdered her husband over Sh100.

The woman, reports indicate, stabbed the husband with a kitchen knife on the chest for reportedly using the money meant for food to buy cigarettes.

A local elder rescued her from an irate mob that had descended on her with blows and kicks before she was later arrested.

The husband succumbed while receiving treatment at Kitale County Referral Hospital.

Police reports indicate the woman wanted to stab her child but the husband blocked her with the knife landing on his chest.

County Police boss Jecinta Wesonga said the suspect is detained at Matisi Police Station and will be arraigned tomorrow (Monday).
