The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has revealed that 13 percent of police officers majority of them from the Administrative Police (AP) are facing some form of mental illnesses.
According to the commission, the conditions are believed to have been occasioned by transfers, financial management, promotions and trainings among others.
NPSC CEO Mr Joseph Onyango said that most of the issues are also brought about by how senior officers handle their juniors as well as how the society has been despising the men and women in uniform.
The observation comes as cases of murder and suicide among the officers continue to rise across the country.
The lastest incident involves two police constables Abel Andari and his wife Dorcus Chebet whose bodies were recovered in their house at a police station in Tranzoia County on Sunday morning.
An autopsy report on Tuesday revealed that Mr Anderi killed his wife before taking his own wife.
According to the witnesses, the incident happened after Ms Chebet went to pick her phone that the husband had taken the previous evening over claims of infidelity.
