Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai has unveiled a new police station built by President Uhuru Kenyatta to bolster security in Tutua area in Buuri, Meru within Meru-Isiolo border.
The modern police station, that has modern features and amenities such as gender and children desks, replaced an old wooden structure that had been serving as the area patrol base.
Mr Mutyambai, who was accompanied by Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, said the station will be manned by 15 police officers, OCS and a DCI officer with two vehicles and a motorcycle to effectively handle insecurity cases in the region.
“The officers will ensure peace within the border that has in the recent past experienced series of banditry attacks,” the IG said.

To prevent clashes between herders from Isiolo and Meru farmers, security agencies will not allow the former to cross over to the neighbouring county.
Mr Mutyambai said various police units had been stationed along the border for quick response to insecurity cases and asked residents to volunteer information to police for action.
Mr Kinoti, who lobbied for construction of the station, hailed the Head of State for delivering on the project and rallied the community members to work closely with the local security agencies to ensure enhanced security.
