Police in Makueni County have arrested a 24-year-old man who attempted to rape his 86-year-old grandmother at Kalongo area on Wednesday night.
Stephen Mutua Mutala reportedly broke into the octogenarian’s house around 1AM and crept into her bed.
He would then cover her mouth before attempting to commit the crime forcing the granny to fight off and scream for help.
The suspect fled over fear that he could be caught.
Police reports indicate that Mr Mutua “stormed out of the house after hitting the granny’s leg with a chair” leaving her in pain.
The suspect was arrested following a manhunt launched by local police officers and is being interrogated ahead of his arraignment over attempted rape.
