Garissa Governor Ali Korane is set to appear before the Employment and Labour Relations Court over failure to pay Sh61 million to county executives who were dismissed unlawfully in 2015.
The court in 2018 ordered that the CECs, Mr Muktar Bulale, Idris Muktar and Salah Farah, were dismissed from work unlawfully and ordered that they be compensated Sh4 million each but the amount was increased by consent to Sh15.7 million each.
The three were dismissed on claims of absenting themselves from work without authority, traveling out of the country without authority from the governor’s office and Mr Burale was additionally accused of failing to supervise administration as mandated.
The county government filed an appeal challenging the monies awarded to the three, an appeal that was dismissed by the court.
Governor Korane together with Finance CEC is set to appear before the court on September 28, 2021.
