Embattled Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has gotten interim orders preventing his arrest over failure to present himself at Kamiti Maximum Prison for withholding guns belonging to Jimi Wanjigi that were seized in 2017.

The DCI boss had lodged an appeal against his warrant of arrest issued on Tuesday on grounds that the court refused to give him a fair hearing including concern that he was not the custodian of firearms.

Mr Kinoti was on November 18 sentenced to four-month imprisonment for contempt of court and ordered to present himself at the prison within seven days.

The Inspector General of Police was yesterday ordered to arrest Mr Kinoti for disregarding the court verdict.

But the Court of Appeal Wednesday barred the IG from arresting Mr Kinoti with the ruling for the officer’s application set for April 1, 2022.
