Kibabii University has launched a Sh64.4 million ICT hub for research and training purposes.
The hub that is funded by the National Research Fund has among others an ultramodern data centre and mobile computing and digital forensic labs all with modern equipment.
The University’s Principal Investigator Prof Franklin Wabwoba said the establishment will enable the institution initiate programmes in digital forensic works and other related fields.
He said the facility will be expanded to benefit other Kenyans and public institutions such as Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
“The equipment will help in research and training of Kenyans,” he noted.
National Research Fund Chief Executive Officer Dr Jemimah Onsare said they were satisfied with how the University spent the funds and for completing the projects in time.
