Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has appealed to politicians to rally their supporters into taking Covid-19 jab during their political rallies.
The CS said it was important for the political class to use the influence they have on masses and crowds to sensitize them on the importance of the jab.
“I urge all politicians even before they start talking about politics in any meeting, to encourage people to get vaccinated,” Mr Kagwe said during a fundraiser in Kisii on Sunday.
The country risks missing it’s vaccination target of 10million people by Christmas day, having only vaccinated 10 percent of the entire population.
According to a recent report by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, Kenya might be among majority of African countries that will fail to hit the target.
The report further states that the reason why majority of the nations might miss the target is the fact that Africa accounts for 25 percent of global vaccine demand but relies on import for more than 90 percent of it’s vaccine needs.
