The Jubilee Party has written to the Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu seeking dissolution of a coalition agreement with Party for Development and Reforms (PDR) that recently rebranded to UDA.
The Party’s Secretary-General Raphael Tuju said the relationship between the party and UDA associated with Deputy President William Ruto had become untenable as the latter had disobeyed the agreement for among others fielding candidates against Jubilee in the recent byelections.
“The Party has decided to pull out of any further negotiations intended to complete the coalition process as is envisaged by the Political Parties Act and to cease any further engagement and association with the PDR…,” Jubilee Party said in a statement.
Political observers say termination of the agreement will assist the Party to among others crack whip on leaders allied to Dr Ruto especially those who have openly declared support for UDA party including Nominated senators whose purge was recently stopped by the court.
Deputy President William Ruto during a recent interview said he will not quit and that he might vie for Presidency on UDA ticket if the current efforts to rescue the Jubilee Party fail to bear fruits.
The party official took issues with the Hustler narrative saying it was against the Party’s slogan ‘Tuko Pamoja’.
He said Jubilee members associating themselves with UDA will face dire consequences and that the party will make official communication on the action that will be taken against the defiant leaders.
