Little Angel, Ikhlas and Dawanur Integrated Academies are among the best performed schools in Isiolo in the recently released KCPE results.
Ikhlas Academy whose top student in 2020 KCPE exams scored less than 400 marks produced this year’s best student in Isiolo, Brenda June Owuor who got 415 marks.
The school posted a mean score of 399 marks up from 385 marks in 2020.
“I expected over 420 marks but I am happy with what I got. I thank God, my teachers and parents for the success,” Brenda told journalists at the school shortly after the results were released.
She narrated how she would wake up early in the morning to study before leaving for school where she stayed until late in the evening before leaving for home.
Passionate about taking care of the sick, Brenda hopes to pursue Medicine after completing her secondary education and is optimistic that she will get an admission at Alliance Girls High School.
At Little Angel Academy, 13 out of the 49 candidates who sat KCPE exam at the school scored 400 marks and above while the rest got 350 marks and above.
There were songs and dances at the school as parents, teachers and learners celebrated the institution’s startling performance.
The school’s top learners Cynthia Gakii and Umulkher Jabir who both scored 411 marks could not hide their joy when journalists visited the school.
Gakii attributed her performance to hardwork and help by teachers who she said helped her improve on her weak subjects.
“I always sought assistance from the teachers on the areas that I performed dismally. That is how I learnt how to work smart,” elated Gakii who hopes to join Alliance Girls and pursue Medicine said.
Headteacher Josphat Kimathi said the school recorded an improved performance and mean score that rose to 384 marks from 372 in last year (2020).
He attributed the school’s consistent performance to teachers’ commitment and learners’ hard work and discipline.
“We are committed to continue offering quality education and sustain our good performance like it has happened in previous years,” Mr Kimathi said.
Dawanur Integrated Academy also produced top performers among them Abdulwahab Mohammed and Feisal Adan Golicha who scored 411 marks and 410 marks respectively.
The school’s performance slightly soar from 371 in 2020 to 372 this year.
Hekima Primary school also produced one of the top performers, Melody Gatwiri who scored 410 marks.
Other best performers in the county included Asli Hersi Fugicha of Ikhlas Academy who scored 409 marks, Dawanur Integrated Academy’s Jillo Soransora Tadicha who got 408 marks, and Daku Hussein of Little Angel who scored 407 marks.
Also in the list is Darmi Roba Tadicha of Loreto Primary who got 405 marks, Little Angels’ Rahma Madera and Asmahan Amza who both scored 404 marks and Naima Mohammad Diba of Al-falah primary who got 401 marks.
Isiolo was among the 12 counties that registered more female than male candidates in 2021 KCPE exam.
Others are Nairobi, Tharaka Nithi, Uasin Gishu, Siaya, Mombasa, Kakamega, Meru, Kisumu, Busia, Vihiga and Bungoma.
Different from Isiolo where private schools topped, public schools were leading in Mt Kenya.
Among the best Mountain schools were Mwimbi Boarding primary in Tharaka Nithi whose top boy Kiriinya Muriuki Victor came fifth nationally with 425 marks.
Others are Kathigiri Boarding Primary in Meru whose best candidate Wendy Makena Thiuru scored 421 marks.
Other top candidates from the region include Mbugua Sharon Muteti (Emmanuel Academy) who was Kenya’s third with 426 marks, Kuruga Collins Ngure of Ndima Kanini Primary in Nyeri who got 423 marks and Annrose Mumbi Ngatia of Karatina Public DEB primary who scored 420 marks.
