Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa has been teargassed at Isiolo Referral Hospital where she visited victims of a banditry attack nursing gunshot wounds.

Ms Jaldesa had stopped to listen to cries of casual workers who claimed to have not been paid for a period of six months.

While listening to them, a police officer started ordering her to leave the facility resulting in a disagreement with Ms Jaldesa insisting that she had to listen to the cries of the citizens who elected her.

“It is my right to listen to my people and no amount of intimidation will scare me off,” she told the police officer.

Minutes later, before getting into her vehicle, a contingent of police officers that were watching from a distance started throwing teargas canisters towards her vehicle and the workers and residents who had accompanied her.
