A section of Isiolo leaders have demanded the recently concluded Teacher Service Commission interns recruitment exercise to be done fresh citing irregularities and unfairness in the selection process.
Several of the applicants who shared their plight with some of the leaders said they were disqualified from the recruitment for being non-locals ostensibly due to interference by some of the Isiolo MPs.
Gender-activist-cum-politician Ms Lucy Mworia said it was unfortunate that the majority of those disqualified live and work in Isiolo but are discriminated against during resource allocation just because their Identification Cards were issued in other counties.
Ms Mworia said the applicants insisted that on inquiry why they were not picked, were told an order from some of the top politicians in the county barred them from qualifying for the positions.
“It is unfair that despite voting, living, and working here in Isiolo and contributing to the growth of the county’s revenue, many applicants were left out during the exercise,” said Ms Mworia.
Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo said the constitution requires that 30 percent of employment opportunities be awarded to non-locals and appealed to those with complaints to file them with the teachers’ employer.
“Those with complaints should write to the TSC and copy to me so that I can follow up,” said Ms Dullo.
Efforts to get a comment from Isiolo TSC officials were futile as they were unreachable.
