No Kenyan will be allowed to travel outside the country without a vaccine passport from next year.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary (CS) Najib Balala said the government was working towards availing vaccine passports that will aid all outside trips from 2022.
Balala said the Ministry of Tourism will collaborate with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to provide Covid-19 vaccine certificates that are similar to those for yellow fever vaccine that will be a mandatory requirement before traveling abroad.
Speaking on Wednesday during the launch of the vaccination drive exercise for frontline workers in the Tourism Industry, the CS said the vaccination exercise is likely to revive the industry that continues to face adverse effects of Covid-19.
The drive that started in Nairobi will run for 10 days before extending to Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado and Nakuru counties and afterward to other parts of the country.
A total of 750, 471 Kenyans had been vaccinated by April 21, 2021 with the majority being those aged 58 years and above (427, 790) according to the Ministry of Health.
