There has been low uptake of the Covid-19 vaccine among health care workers, security officers and teachers targeted in the first phase of the inoculation, reports indicate.
Of the 750, 471 Kenyans who had taken the Covid-19 jab by April 21 (Wednesday), 427, 790 were aged 58 years and above translating to 57 percent.
Others were 146, 091 health workers, 114, 606 teachers and 61, 984 security officers.
The Ministry of Health announced that 965 people had tested positive for Covid-19 out of 7311 samples tested in the last 24 hours translating to 13.2 positivity rate.
The new cases brought to 153, 488 the total number of positive cases reported from March 2020 with the total cumulative tests standing at 1, 618, 990 as at April 21.
Twenty-one (21) people died from the disease (nine succumbed in the last one month) bringing the death toll to 2540.
