A man who reportedly slit his fiancee’s throat with a machete after suspecting that she had an affair with another man, has surrendered to police.
David Ruto ambushed Joan Jepchirchir while asleep in his house, which they had been sharing, in Elgeyo Marakwet and stabbed her with the weapon killing her on the spot.
The suspect later confessed to killing his wife-to-be to a local village elder and demanded that he be arrested and taken to a nearby Kapyemit Police station.
The body of the 27-year-old was found lying in a pool of blood on the bed.
Police have seized the murder weapon that will be used as an exhibit in court as investigations continue.
