Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Co-operative, Mr Peter Munya has appointed Dr Francis Kijogi Mutegi Kabisani from Tharaka constituency as a board member of the Kenya Fisheries Service.
According to the Kenya Gazette dated January 8, 2021, Dr Kabisani will serve as a member of the board with effect from January 5, 2021 replacing Mr Omar Boga.
Residents of Tharaka constituency and Tharaka Nithi County, in general, received the news of the appointment with joy and gratitude to the CS Munya for considering the ‘son of the soil’.
Kabisani is a Ph.D holder in Strategic Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
He is a lecturer and a lead consultant with Hisecone Consultants Limited which mainly deals with baseline survey, research, strategic planning and human resource training.
Dr Kabisani who comes from a very humble background in Kamanyaki in Tharaka South Sub County is a seasoned politician having run for the position of Tharaka constituency Member of Parliament missing narrowly.
Despite failing to win, the scholar has continuously advocated for the welfare of the region and always waking up leaders from slumber to fight for the rights of their voters.
Speaking to The Press Point, Dr Kabisani lauded CS Munya for the consideration and vowed to serve the country diligently.
“I thank God and the CS for the appointment and the people of Tharaka constituency and Tharaka Nithi County at large for their great love” said Dr Kabisani who will be running for Tharaka MP seat in 2022.
Dr Daniel Mutegi Giti, a scholar from Tharaka who works in the Ministry of Housing also lauded the CS for the appointed and expressed confidence that Dr Kabisani will deliver beyond his expectations.
The count and especially Tharaka constituency has witnessed very few appointments in President Uhuru Kenyatta government and residents have always blamed it on disunity among the leaders and especially the elected ones.
Others who congratulated Dr Kabisani for the appointment included: Alex Njeru (Nation Media Group), Sabastian Mwangangi (Nkuri ya Tharaka), Kiambi Njagi, Reuben Mutegi, CPA Njeru Jacob, Kingkong Johnson, Mwalim Kirush, Wilson Mwikamba, Wakili Kimakia, Super Jay and Mukundi Gakuru (Obama) among others.
