The Employment and Labor Relations Court has barred Nakuru County Assembly members from vetting 10 County Executive Committee Member (CECM) nominees pending the hearing and determination of a petition challenging their nomination.

Lady Justice Wasilwa barred the ward representatives from, receiving and if already received, acting upon the list from the county government.

The orders follows a suit challenging the nominations over claims that those nominated did not reflect the ethnicity and cultural diversity in the county.

According to Dr Magare Gikenyi, the complainant, Governor Susan Kihika acted against the County Government Act of 2012 while making the nominations.

Governor Kihika revealed the list of the nominees on October 23 and forwarded the same to the County Assembly for approval.

The case will be heard on October 13,2022
