Young people have been advised to ensure they acquaint themselves with their partners before getting into a serious relationship.
Isiolo Sub-county Police Commander George Kariuki said failure to know one’s partner before getting engaged and married to them was contributing to the rising cases of domestic violence being witnessed in the country.
The police boss also advised couples not to stay in abusive relationships but quit for their own safety and to not maintain links with their ex-partners after breakups.
“There is life after a breakup. You better move out instead of staying in a hostile relationship,” Mr Kariuki said.
Young couples, he said, should listen to advices from family and friends before committing themselves to any serious engagement.
The call comes barely two weeks after a 26-year-old Celestine Nduku was reportedly murdered by her estranged husband at Kambi ya Juu area barely three weeks after separating due to several disagreements.
