Lobby groups in Isiolo want the ongoing recruitment of data clerks by the National Drought Management Authority stopped over favoritism claims.
Addressing journalists in Isiolo town, the groups claimed that some deserving had been locked out calling for a fresh exercise.
Isiolo Rights Watch’s Silas Eudan demanded the cancelation of ongoing interviews taking place in Isiolo town for the applicants to get equal opportunities and the process is done in a transparent manner.
Isiolo Parents Chair Ismael Galma claimed that the exercise had been interfered with by some local politicians and blamed NDMA for not making public the list of those shortlisted for the work.
Contacted, Isiolo NDMA Director Lordman Lekalkuli maintained that the exercise was transparent and only those qualified were called for interviews.
Ms Valentine Nyaguthii of Pastoral Gender Initiative called for the inclusion of women and youths from across all communities living in the county to ensure fairness.
“The issue of gender and fair representation of communities should be considered,” Ms Nyaguthii said.
More than 1000 youths applied for the job that needed 30 people who will be equally deployed to the three sub-counties.
