Hundreds of Isiolo residents have benefited from an ongoing medical camp aimed at offering free health services targeting vulnerable groups and persons who are unable to access quality healthcare due to financial constraints.
The camp, supported by County First Lady Habiba Guyo’s office in partnership with Muslim Students Association of the University of Nairobi (MSAUN) in partnership with Isiolo County Referral Hospital, offered among others free consultation, checkups, surgeries and health education.
Medical Services Chief Officer Abdirahman Ibrahim said about 843 patients had been attended to and 32 surgeries including 23 major ones performed.
“We are committed to ensuring all residents access quality healthcare services across the county,” he noted.
MSAUN representative Asha Abdalla said the programme was part of the Association’s corporate social responsibility and hailed Ms Guyo for supporting a team of medics from Nairobi.
“We appreciate all the support we received during the exercise which we believe has offered hope and solace to the beneficiaries,” she noted.
Ms Guyo hailed the medics for sacrificing and offering services to the residents and appealed to youths to develop the culture of giving back to their communities.
“There is a need for students and other young people to unite, form associations and seek support to enable them give back to the community in different ways just as the MSAUN did,” she said.
