A police officer has died following an attack by suspected bandits at Loruko police post in Isiolo on Monday night.
Police reports indicate that a large number of suspected Samburu Morans attacked the station, that is usually manned by nine officers but had only one officer, Francis Njeru, present at 7:20pm.
The attackers suspected to be Samburu Morans also took away two G3 firearms one belonging to the late and another one to an officer who had reportedly gone to Isiolo town.
The bandits are also said to have left with some foodstuffs that were at the station.
Police recovered three spent cartridges, a G3 magazine with 20 rounds of ammunition and a cellphone belonging to the slain officer at the scene of the crime.
The body of the deceased, that was found with three visible gunshot wounds, has since been moved to Isiolo Referral Hospital Mortuary.
