Isiolo Assembly Speaker Mohammed Roba Qoto has announced plans to start a Livestream of the House proceedings in efforts to ensure residents are abreast of the issues happening there.

Mr Qoto said in the spirit of enhancing public access to information, all Assembly proceedings will be aired live on social platforms so that residents keep tabs of what their MCAs do and hold them accountable.

“I want to assure Isiolo residents that all Assembly proceedings will be live-streamed so that they follow the happenings from whichever the place they are at for transparency,” he said.

He said residents will have a good opportunity to evaluate whether their ward representatives were representing them well and make informed decisions during the 2027 general elections.

Having been in police force for 22 years, Mr Qoto said the 18 MCAs should be ready to diligently discharge their roles with decorum warning that he will not hesitate to instill police-like discipline to errant members.

“My Assembly will be a productive one and those (MCAs) who will feel I am strict like an officer, should get used to it,” he said while promising to support the executive in bettering the lives of residents and realizing more development in the region.

He cited digitization of revenue collection among the areas they will support the executive on to prevent pilferage of public funds.

“We will enhance weak legislations and assist in coming up with stringent measures and polices to seal loopholes in revenue sector,” he said.

The Assembly, he revealed, will soon amend its Standing Orders so that county executives are directly answerable to the MCAs and appear in the House in person to respond to queries raised by the members.
