Outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta has wished President elect William Ruto the best as he takes over the reins as Kenya’s fifth President tomorrow (September 13).
Mr Kenyatta hosted Dr Ruto at State House today ahead of the latter’s inauguration on Tuesday to discuss among others the transition process.
The Head of State and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta also took the President-elect and First Lady in-waiting Rachel Ruto on a tour of State House as part of the official handing-over process.
“Today’s meeting between President Kenyatta and President-elect Dr. Ruto affirms that all preparations for tomorrow’s inauguration are complete,” State House shared.
The Supreme Court of Kenya last week dismissed a petition by Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga challenging the victory of Dr Ruto and upheld his win.
The court, in a unanimous decision, said that Dr Ruto indeed garnered 7.1 million votes (50.49 percent) while Mr Odinga got 6, 942, 930 votes representing 48.85 percent.
