Nyeri’s Kieni West polling clerk who allegedly issued extra ballot papers to a voter in the recently concluded polls has been charged.
Ms Pamela Wangui was accused of issuing five stamped ballot papers and another for the parliamentary seat contrary to the Election Offences Act.
The clerk was arrested alongside Mr John Maina, who was issued with the said papers, after a presiding officer established that the latter had taken too long at the booth and raised alarm.
The two were taken to Endarasha Police Station and later released on Sh15, 000 police cash bail each before their arraignment.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate James Macharia, Ms Wangui and her accomplice both denied the election offence charges and were each released on a cash bail of Sh100, 000.
The case will be mentioned on September 12, 2022.
