Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa, former Governor Godana Doyo and Senate candidate Nuh Mohammed have maintained that they will not accept the expected results claiming the voting exercise was marred with irregularities.
The three Independent candidates accused the security team of interfering with the voting process to favour their Jubilee rivals in some of the polling stations.
“We have witnessed massive movement of security apparatus and in some incidences we witnessed them obstruct and openly chase voters out of polling stations,” Mr Doyo claimed.
The first Governor wondered why massive deployment of police officers was done in some of the areas whereas Isiolo had not witnessed any violence including in past electioneering time.
“Heavy presence of General Service Unit officers was purposely meant to intimidate and coerce our voters,” he went on as the three addressed journalists in Isiolo town.
The leaders alleged what they termed as a well stipulated plan by the government machinery to boost votes for their opponents and that numerous cases of voter bribery were not addressed.
“Polling stations in our strongholds opened very late and there was no extra time allowed but in other centres voting was done until late in the night,” said Mr Nuh.
According to Ms Jaldesa, their recent summonses by the County Criminal Investigations boss was a plot to paint them in bad light so that their supporters could shift allegiance to their opponents.
siolo County Commissioner Geoffrey Omoding however said the heavy presence of security officers was meant to heighten security and ensure peaceful Electoral process.
“We received cases of voter bribery and responded in time but did not arrest the culprits. We have been handling the cases as received,” said the administrator.
The three have vowed to challenge the outcome of the polls in court.
