Police in Kayole, Nairobi have arrested the man who attacked, raped and strangled his friend’s finance to death at their Umoja Estate a week ago.
For welcoming her lover’s friend Edwin Onditi Odada to their house, the woman only identified as Pamela did not know that the gesture would cost her life.
The man, James Odour was shocked to find the lady’s lifeless body lying on their bed on July 12 around 9PM after work.
He found the door locked around 8PM and thought the wife had gone out to shop but her phone went unanswered.
Mr Odour then alerted a friend who helped him break into the house.
A T-shirt had been inserted into the deceased mouth, while the body had visible scratch marks on the neck, indicating that she had been strangled.
The suspect, reports indicated, was seen leaving the house on the fateful day around 4PM.
It has since been established that the deceased had at one time previously informed the boyfriend that the suspect had attempted to rape her.
The suspect had been close friends with Oduor and had for sometime resided together in the same house where the crime was committed.
Mr Odour threw him out after learning that he had attempted to sexually assualt his girlfriend only for him to return on the material day with hidden malice and resentment.
Following the incident, Dandora-based sleuths swung into action and conducted a nightlong operation and arrested Mr Onditi, the prime suspect, and Samuel Juma Otieno who was in possession of the deceased’ mobile phone at Tushauriane area in Kayole.
The prime suspect had previously been sentenced to life imprisonment by Oyugis High Court over a defilement case in 2017 but was later released after a successful appeal in the 2020.
