Three people died after a lorry they were traveling in burst into flames along the Ngiiri-Kitui road.

The trio, including the driver, were burnt to death and beyond recognition when the lorry, ferrying garbage towards Embu town, veered off the road and rolled severally before fire broke out during the Monday night accident.

Reports indicate that residents and firefighters were overwhelmed by the flames of fire and had to helplessly and painfully watch as the three were consumed by the inferno.

The two other occupants had reportedly been offered a lift by the driver when they met their painful deaths.

The bodies were taken to Embu Referral Hospital morgue and the wreckage towed to Kiritiri Police Station.
