Close to 30, 000 litres of illicit liquor have been netted and destroyed in Isiolo Central since January.
They include 808 litres of Chang’aa, 1490 litres of Busaa, 110 litres of Marua, 7086 litres of Muna, 2914 litres of Ndume and 15, 978 litres of Kangara.
A total of 51 people have been arrested over involvement in production of the illicit liqour, 91 apparatuses and 58 rolls of bhang seized within the same period.
National government administrators a week ago seized 786 litres of Kangara, 110 litres of Muna and 10 litres of Chang’aa.
While leading destruction of 280 litres of Chang’aa worth Sh300, 000 last Tuesday, Isiolo Central Assistant County Commissioner Joshua Otieno said courts had charged fines of more than Sh3 million to the suspects in the last four months.
Six suspects were arrested during the April 26 raid across several brewing sites in Bulapesa.
The main suspect who is a notorious brewer, arrested thrice in the past, escaped police dragnet.
“She should leave the county if she cannot stop the illegal business. We will ruthlessly deal with her,” Mr Otieno said.
Accompanied by chiefs from the division, the administrators asked the public to volunteer information to assist authorities nab the suspects.
“Operation will be sustained to flush out remaining brewers. We have intensified surveillance and are committed to ending the illegal business,” Assistant County Commissioner James Macharia said.
