A Nanyuki-based Form Four candidate died on Saturday evening after consuming ethanol at the school.

The student, whose name has been withheld, reportedly stole the ethanol from the school’s laboratory together with his colleagues and consumed it after mixing with some water.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital where he was rushed after complaining of severe stomachache.

It still remains unclear whether the late student sneaked the chemical out during practical or not.

Consumption of ethanol leads to confusion, stupor, coma and death depending on the amount consumed.
