An MCA aspirant in Isiolo who had publicly declared he would vie on Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has been forced to jump ship after some of his supporters threatened not to vote him if he vied on the party.
The MCA hopeful, who is trying his luck for the second time, has on several occasions been warned by his supporters that he risked losing their support for supporting DP Ruto.
Dr Ruto was recently dealt huge blow after Isiolo Woman Rep Rehema Jaldesa, his ardent supporter, decamped back to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
Governor Mohammed Kuti, Senator Fatuma Dullo, Nominated Senator Abshiro Halakhe, MPs Hassan Odha and Abdi Koropu of Isiolo North and Isiolo South respectively and all the 10 elected MCAs are supporting Azimio la Umoja Movement.
The male MCA is among those perceived as frontrunners in the contest that has attracted over 20 candidates.
In a recent incident, he reportedly met some youths in Isiolo town and reminded them to support his bid but they walked away telling him he was destined to fail.
Concerned over the concerns, the leader has immediately stopped using UDA logo in his posters in a clear indication that he had heed to his supporter’s grievances.
He was this week spotted in Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s Devolution Empowerment Party’s meeting adorn the yellow clad sending signals that he could be headed there or already there.
