An Isiolo based cleric has told off Borana Council of Elders (BCE) over their recent endorsement of aspirants for five elective positions in the county terming unfair and biased.
Bishop Stephen Kalunyu, who is the County’s Interfaith Secretary said the decision would hinder positive progress and development and claimed that by doing so, the largest community had locked out other communities living in the county.
“If we wish to grow our county fairly, we need to to invite all interested parties from different communities to share in the elective slot opportunities,” Mr Kalunyu said.
The cleric appealed to the elders to reconsider their decision for the welfare of all the communities living in the county.
The Borana elders Tuesday gave five aspirants the greenlight to seek election for the Gubernatorial, Senatorial, Women Representative and Isiolo South and North MP positions.
The Council’s Chairperson Abdullahi Gonjobe then urged other communities in the county to support the five endorsed aspirants.
