Isiolo North MP Hassan Odha has hit out at his opponents and warned them of losing terribly in 2022 general elections.
The first term MP exuded confidence in his reelection saying he had immensely transformed and uplifted education and security status in the constituency.
In a jab seen to be directed to Mwenda Thuranira, the MP asked Oldonyiro residents to vote him back in 2022 owing to his development track and not to be duped by tourists who have been frequenting the region in the recent past.
“Many will come to you. Others don’t know Oldonyiro and must have a tour guide with them. When they come, listen to them but when elections come, you know where and who to vote for,” Mr Odha told Oldonyiro residents when he commissioned two classrooms and modern laboratory for Lebarsherik Secondary School last week.
The MP also issued Sh1.8 million bursaries for Kipsing, Oldonyiro and Lebarsherik Secondary Schools.
Mr Mwenda has in recent past been making inroads in Oldonyiro with fears that he could garner some votes limiting the incumbent’s quest of galvanizing all the Samburu votes.
But being in the race together with Lucy Mworia and both coming from the Ameru community, former MP Joseph Samal and Mr Odha are seen as the frontrunners in the contest that has attracted close to 10 candidates.
Mr Odha is also banking on Borana Council of Elders endorsement to consolidate his community’s votes though analysts say there’s a likelihood of some of the Boranas voting for Abdilatif Boru eventhough that solely relies on whether Mr Boru would decide to defy elders declaration in event Mr Odha is declared the community’s main candidate or will comply and withdraw his quest for the incumbent.
Mr Odha said he had passionately and with utmost fairness served Isiolo residents without minding whether they voted for him or not or on the basis of their tribes and religion.
He said for having delivered on what electorates sent him to Parliament to do, they should give him another chance to propel the region to the next level.
“If you send someone (for a mission) and they faithfully deliver the work well, there is no need for changes. Waambieni kiti iko na kijana wa nyumbani (Tell them the seat is with your son),” the MP said while calling for political tolerance during electioneering period.
Mr Odha hopes to ride on his sponsorship program that has fully funded education for close to 200 students in the county and improved infrastructure in some of the schools in his reelection bid.
