Detectives in Meru are hunting down a police officer suspected to have broken into Deputy OCS’s office on the night of Jamhuri and left with gambling machines that were recovered during a crackdown.
The Administrative Police Corporal, Samuel Mwenda reportedly broke into the office at Laare Police Station in Igembe and took away the machines.
Acting on a tip-off from the public, police raided his house and recovered the machines that had already been destroyed.
However, an unknown amount of money that was inside the machines was missing.
The officer who is still on the run is likely to be charged with felony.
