Police in Kiambu have are holding a 25-year old man suspected to have stabbed to death his friend over an argument on who to pay for a boda boda ride.

Reports indicate that the suspect, Mr Daniel Waithera, and Michael Mukami aged 21 had picked a motorbike at Gikambura market at around 5:30pm and on arriving at their destination in Muthangari, started arguing on who was to pay fare.

Mr Waithera is said to have then rushed to his nearby home only to come back with a kitchen knife that he stabbed his friend to death with.

“He stabbed the deceased on the left side of the neck and took off leaving him for dead,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigation shared.

The rider immediately alerted police officers who launched a manhunt for the suspect who had vanished after committing the crime.

Acting on a tip off from members of the public, the sleuths managed to arrest the suspect and recovered the blood-stained murder weapon.
