A seven-year-old girl is among the two victims who succumbed to the Sunday night inferno at Mukuru Fuata Nyayo slum in Nairobi where several families were left homeless.
Melvin Anyona is suspected to have been left in their house at the area when the accident occurred cutting the young life short.
Her father, Mr Caleb Njairo said he was saddened by the untimely death of her only child less than three years after they had moved into the house.
The fire suspected to have been caused by a burning candle that had been left in the house also took the life of a 40-year-old James Atambo who according to his elder brother, was planning to go back to his ancestral home after he lost his job due to Coronavirus outbreak.
Several families lost property and are now appealing to the government to lend a helping hand to ensure they are reinstated to their initial situations.
