A Senate Committee is set for a-two-day inspection tour in Isiolo to access progress on some of the ongoing multimillion projects.
Among the projects to be inspected during the Friday and Saturday visit is the Sh348 million stadium, Sh545 modern market and the county headquarters that is expected to cost over Sh600 million.
Others issues that the delegation will be following up on is Mwangaza Dispensary and the Isiolo Referral Hospital morgue that has sparked public outcry in the last few months.
Senator Fatuma Dullo had last month expressed concerns over the delayed completion of the projects and appealed that they be prioritized and the works expedited.
Residents have in the recent past complained over the poor state of morgue accusing the county government of failure to ‘respect the dead’
The committee, a March 5 letter shows, wants Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo to furnish it with information regarding the projects with focus on their scope, level of completion, any existing challenges in implementation and expected date of completion.
Governor Guyo recently said he would not honour all summonses from Senate as had other important work to do-for the electorates, who he said were the only people who had authority to question him.
He was responding to continued ‘criticism’ of his adminstration by Senator Fatuma Dullo who he accuses of engaging in early campaigns for 2027 elections in the guise of oversight.
The wrangling between the two leaders, who are the county’s political heavyweights, threatens to divide local residents or throw the county into early campaigning mood.
All eyes are on whether Governor Guyo will by himself or through a representative join the Senate team that also includes public health experts during the tour or he will make true his threats.
