Embu residents have taken to social media to protest MCAs trip to Tanzania to learn good manners terming it a waste of resources.

The irate netizens said it was unfortunate that the county government was wasting public funds at the expense of suffering residents.

The 33 ward representatives on Monday morning embarked on a two-week trip to Arusha which will cost the county government Sh20 million.

Each MCAs will also pocket more than Sh500, 000 during the period where they will be taught on basic etiquette and campaign language.

Reports indicate that this is legislators’ second trip to Tanzania in a period of three months.

“What will the manners help in while our people continue to suffer due to lack of drugs in our hospitals?” Charles Mugambi shared on Facebook saying the funds should have been directed to other important issues such as health and roads.

Ms Sarah Mwangi said “The MCAs should be forced to return the money. We cannot allow such misuse of public funds to continue”.
