Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor Francis Kagwima, who was stripped of his duties as the County Cooperative Executive in 2018 after clashing with his boss Muthomi Njuki, has been re-assigned work one year to the 2022 General elections.
Governor Njuki, in fresh cabinet changes, announced on August 11, 2021 that also affected several chief officers, assigned Mr Kagwima to head the Land, Physical Planning, Water and Irrigation department after more than two years without portfolio.
In what many say is a move to mend ways with Mr Kagwima, the Governor split the department to create the position for him as he needs him in convincing residents from his Tharaka backyard to re-elect him in the forthcoming polls.
The changes are meant to streamline service delivery according to Mr Njuki.
Whether or not Mr Njuki will seek reelection with Mr Kagwima as his deputy or will go for another running mate, only time will tell.
