The prime suspect in the murder of former Kenya’s World 10 KM women’s race champion Agnes Tirop will be detained for further 20 days to allow police complete investigation.

Magistrate Charles Kutwa allowed the prosecution’s request to continue holding Mr Ibrahim Rotich, husband to the slain athlete, to allow investigation.

Mr Rotich was arrested in Mombasa on Thursday last week while reportedly on a mission to flee out of the country.

He is the main suspect in the murder of the athlete whose lifeless body, with stab wounds, was found in her house on Wednesday morning.

Reports indicate that the two were constantly involved in domestic violence prior to her death.

The case will be mentioned on November 9, 2021.
