The main suspect in the murder of a Catholic priest whose body was found dumped near a river in Embu has been re-arrested after evading court proceedings.
Fr Michael Maingi was on leave and had gone to visit his parents when the suspects reportedly strangled him to death and buried him near Gathingiri river.
The suspect, Michael Mutunga, was arrested in possession of the cleric’s garments that were stained with blood and a sharp knife suspected to have been used to commit the crime.
Mr Mutunga was released on a Sh300, 000 cash bail when he was first arraigned at an Embu court.
He later reportedly went into hiding at a formal settlement where he was arrested for failing to appear in court.
The sleuths re-arrested him while in the hideout and is being detained awaiting charges.
