The Isiolo town’s Tuesday attack where two people including a 14-year-old boy were shot could have been politically instigated, police sources have revealed.
The attack, police believe, could have been orchestrated in an effort to spread fear and panic among members of one of the communities living in the area synonymous with land grabbing cases.
An officer privy to ongoing investigations and who did not want to be named for fear of retribution said they suspect that some of the local politicians had a hand in the incident.
The move, according to sources, is among the dirty tricks that politicians use during campaign time for political expediency.
“This is not a usual attack but politically influenced one,” the officer told Press Point.
Isiolo County Commissioner Herman Shambi earlier said preliminary investigations showed that the attack could have been retaliatory as the attackers allegedly collaborated with a local accomplice who knew the place very well.
“The attackers worked with a local who knew the area and home very well,” said Mr Shambi.
Mr Shambi assured residents that the security apparatuses were doing everything possible to avert future attack.
